Kirill Shamiev
I am a young Ph.D. candidate interested in Russian civil-military relations and security policies with a strong focus on empirical field-driven research. I finished Higher School of Economics with a degree in political science with honors and The School of Public Policy at CEU with Merit and a Security specialization. I use quantitative (panel data, instrumentals, quasi-experiments in R and Stata) and qualitative (text analysis, interviews, surveys, focus groups, QCA) tools of data gathering and analysis. I appeared with articles on Russian security, politics, and society at Riddle, Novaya Gazeta, Echo of Moscow, The Moscow Times and Novyie Izvestiya.
