CEU wins EDUWORKS: 12 PhD positions and 2 postdoctoral positions in a Marie Curie ITN project

September 4, 2013

We are delighted to announce a successful launch of the EDUWORKS project recently awarded to CEU (Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations) by the European Commission. CEU faculty Martin Kahanec (DPP) co-leads the project as a member of the Supervisory Board and CEU's scientist in charge. EDUWORKS is an FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network project with a mission to train talented early-stage researchers in the socio-economic and psychological dynamics of the labor supply and demand matching processes at aggregated and disaggregated levels. EDUWORKS brings together researchers from several academic disciplines, namely: Labor Economics and Policy, Sociology of Occupations, HRM and Lifelong Learning. The consortium coordinated by the University of Amsterdam (involving the Amsterdam Business School and Amsterdam Institute of Advanced Labour Studies) consists of five additional full-partner institutions: Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), the University of Salamanca (Spain), Corvinno Technology Transfer Center (Hungary), the University of Siegen (Germany) and the Central European University (Hungary). Organizations from industries with relevant practical expertise (such as the Central European Labour Studies Institute, ECORYS, Ericsson and Randstad) have also committed to EDUWORKS as associate partners.

Within EDUWORKS CEU announces 2 PhD positions in Labour Economics and Policy. Generous financial packages are available. Please find more information more here:  http://eduworks-network.eu/vacancies/3  and here: http://eduworks-network.eu/vacancies/4.

We encourage all prospective candidates to apply asap but no later than October 15, 2013.

About the project:

"A network of six universities (with the University of Amsterdam as project coordinator) and several companies have obtained a 3.6 million euro grant from the European FP7 Marie Curie programme for the EDUWORKS project.

The aim of the project is to generate a clearer understanding of the mechanisms underlying matching between individuals, education and the labour market. The ultimate goal of EDUWORKS is to create a joint European research and training programme. Part of the research will be conducted at the private and public organisations within the network.

Understanding how the matching process works can prevent mismatches with respect to skills and qualifications, and can lead to an improved balance between the supply of and demand for labour." (UvA)
