CEU’s Annual Doctoral Conference (ADC) has been organized every year since 2006, providing opportunity to PhD students from CEU and partner institutions to present and discuss their research papers, test their ideas, while gaining valuable feedback from first class discussants. The 2017 ADC  is organized under the theme "Politics in Illiberal Times", and is held on Monday -Tuesday, 3-4 April 2017 in CEU's Nador 15 Building.

The conference offers 12 thematic panels in a wide range of topics, with the flagship panel focusing on “Politics in Illiberal Times”. In addition to the thematic panels, ADC will host a keynote lecture on the EU’s political economy from professor Laszlo Bruszt, an exciting talk on the threats to public interest journalism by CMDS’s Dean Starkman, and a book launch about migration by CEU alumni. On the first day, a poster session will also be held from a number of visualisations by CEU PhD Students.
