CEU's contributions to the fields of politics and international studies were found to be the 42nd best in the world according to the 2017 QS World University Rankings. The ranking is an important indicator recognizing the high academic quality of our Masters’ and PhD programs in the field.
CEU's research related to politics and international studies were ranked as 42nd in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) subject ranking, published on 8 March 2017. The ranking finds CEU in the top 50 universities of the world for the third time in three years in this subject. Among the European universities, QS ranked research in politics and international studies to the prestigious 13rd place.
At CEU the subjects of politics and international studies are primarily represented by the Department of Political Science, the Department of International Relations, the School of Public Policy and the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations. In the ranking CEU was placed ahead of such institutions as Humboldt University, Berlin, the University of Warwick and European University Institute, Florence, in these subjects. CEU was ranked in seven subjects. TCEU maintained its rankings in the top 100 in philosophy, sociology and social policy and administration. History maintained its ranking in the top 150, and the university regained its spot in the rankings in law, at 151-200, last held in 2015. In economics and econometrics, CEU kept its spot in the top 151-200 for the third year in a row.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject were created in response to a demand for more detail than provided by the company’s overall rankings, which are released in the fall each year. In the subject rankings, universities are ranked based on academic reputation, employer reputation, and research citations, with weightings tailored to each subject.
