Letitia Roman is a Ph.D. candidate in International Relations with a minor in social science methodology at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. She holds MA degrees in International Affairs, with a specialization in Security and Sustainability from the Hertie School, and in International Relations from CEU.
Letitia’s work bridges academia and applied research. She currently serves as an Eastern Europe Researcher with ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project), where she analyzes political-violence and protest events across the region. Her scholarly interests center on the intersection of climate change and conflict, political violence, conflict management, peace-building, and European foreign and security policy. A committed methodological enthusiast, she specializes in causal inference and mixed-methods designs.
Professionally, Letitia has several years of experience working with think tanks and organizations specializing in International Security, in Vienna, Brussels and Berlin. This has equipped her with a practical understanding of the field, complementing her academic pursuits.
Letitia served as the acting chair of the Conflict and Security Research Group (ConSec) at CEU during AY 2023/2024 and 2024/2025, where she organized events and collaborated with fellow researchers to advance the understanding of all things security.
